Summary: The Shadow Conflict and Rise of Future Soldiers
During the 2012 war with Usrekistahn, known as the “Shadow Conflict,” the SPECON task force IRONHAND was nearly wiped out when General Saiem unleashed a devastating biological weapon on his capital city and military base.
In 2013, the unit was disbanded, with veterans offered pensions and roles as recruit trainers. Survivors suffered severe side effects, including sterilization, blindness, disfigurement, and psychological trauma. The worst cases faced genetic-level changes, requiring drastic measures to survive.
Two experts, Professor Benjamin Gould and Kenneth Jones Benedict, were tasked with restoring the IRONHAND unit. Using nanobot technology and micro-fusion power, they created “The Future Soldiers.” Only five out of 46 candidates completed the cybernetic rehabilitation, becoming super soldiers with enhanced abilities. However, their advanced technology required miniature nuclear reactors, causing radiation poisoning and necessitating cryogenic freezing between missions.
Despite this, their battlefield capabilities were unmatched, often changing the outcome of operations.
Recent Events and Crisis
During a recent mission, a Future Soldier’s systems were damaged, leading to its capture by a terrorist cell. The terrorists now possess the technology to reprogram the cyborg, creating a dire threat. SPECON’s recovery mission failed, and the whereabouts of the captured Future Soldier are unknown.
Professor Gould and Benedict are now developing weapons and strategies to protect the remaining four Future Soldiers and prepare for inevitable attacks. SPECON agents will train at Fort Bragg to combat their ultimate weapon.
