The Story
Special Contained Operations Units (SPECON)
In 2008 NATO high command and several other agencies devoted a comparatively small amount of funding to the SPECON project.
The success of the rapid-response milti-role taskforce led to the creation of several more active units, which saw service in many locations throughout the world.
Units include:
Iron-Hand – Crisis management & Heavy weapons specialists.
Broad-Leaf – Multirole task force, Support for any of the other Units and capable of preforming any of the duties of the other three on a limited basis. (Broad-Leaf is by far the largest of all the SPECON units)
Intervention – Anti Narcotics and infiltration specialists (This Unit has no base of operations and is the only mobile exclusive task force) when not under direct orders from SPECON command, agents assist U.N drug enforcement agencies.
Lock-Pick – Covert Operations and Retrieval specialists, Lock-Pick is tasked with commandeering or destroying any technologies that pose a threat to world security. Often Lock-Pick will be asked to cross boarders illegally to secure hazardous devices such as nuclear warheads or W.M.D’s.
SPECON’s success lay in each unit’s ability to act independently of centralised command while executing missions in hostile territory.
The rapid-response and high success rate of the SPECON units eventually led to them being named as the official military peace keeping force for both NATO and the U.N in 2011.
SPECON Units take only the best and brightest. New recruits are trained vigorously, using a combination of war-games with Taser based weapons, and advanced Virtual reality simulations utilising holographic technology to give them first-hand experience on a wide verity of potential missions and battlefield strategies.
Before a cadet can graduate to one of the active SPECON Units, they must first attend the Fort Brag Training Facility for a minimum of 8 months, and finally face the qualifying exam. This final test is a series of games designed to test if the recruits have the relevant combat ability needed to survive in the field.
Cadets must be well versed in military tactics, techniques, and the various strategy that government, military, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies use to combat or prevent Global and local threats.
For the Recruits to Unit Iron-Hand must complete a series of security and protection training.
SPECON Forces use the term “foreign internal defence”, for operations that help support other countries in attempts to suppress Terrorism, insurgency, lawlessness, or reduce the conditions under which these threats to world security may develop.
SPECON units must be able to handle terrorist threats. As part of these elite tactical units, operators must be able to directly engage terrorists and prevent terrorist attacks before they reach home soil. Such units perform both in preventive actions, hostage rescue and responding to on-going attacks. Tactics, techniques and procedures for man-hunting are always under constant development.
Most of the training at Fort Brag deals with terrorist attacks that affect launched against a person of importance or securing a location (either via hostage crisis or potential W.M.D deployment), Counter Assassination and Apprehension (or elimination) of Individuals guilty of these crimes.
Due to the short (if any) warning time of such attacks, Operators must be skilled in adaptability and rapid response in the field.
These units are specially trained in tactics and are very well equipped, Emphasis on speed and performing the mission with minimal casualties. The units include take-over force (assault teams), snipers, and intelligence officers.
Do you have what it takes to graduate? Will you receive a Medal of Graduation this year?
