Recently astronauts and scientists aboard the International Space Station detected a slow moving asteroid.
It was scheduled to pass by some weeks after its discovery by the stations orbital defence grid.
This left plenty of time to formulate a plan, the object is roughly three meters in diameter (about the size of large car) and it is moving incredibly slowly.
A space probe has been deployed from the station to land on he asteroid and take samples.
However on return to the station , a malfunction with an experimental fusion engine resulted in loss of control, and the probe being pulled into Earth’s atmosphere where it began its unavoidable decent.
It is calculated to land on the Chinese boarder in a forested remote region in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Relations between China and America (and by association SPECON) have been in a state of Cold War for the last 3 years.
If the Chinese Government decide not to shoot down the probe (as is legally there right,) they will attempt to intercept it on the ground.
If this situation arises a SPECON team will be requested to break international law, and covertly cross the border and retrieve it.
Not only are the samples on board incredibly valuable for scientific research purposes, but the fusion engines on the probe are classified technology that cannot be allowed to fall into the Chinese Governments hands.
Once over the border Agents will receive no further assistance from SPECON command, the mission will be in their hands, failure is not an option.
