The Story

War Games  – Biological warfare

SPECON Units take only the best and brightest.

New recruits are trained vigorously, using a combination of simulated war-games with Taser based ammunition in training weapons, and advanced Virtual reality simulations utilising holographic technology to give them first-hand experience on a wide verity of potential missions and battlefield strategies.

Before a cadet can graduate to one of the active SPECON Units, they must first attend the Fort Brag Training Facility for a minimum of 8 months, and finally face the qualifying exam. This final test is a series of War Games designed to test if the recruits have the relevant combat ability needed to survive in the field.

Cadets must be well versed in military tactics, techniques, and the various strategy that government, military, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies use to combat or prevent Global and local threats.

In this series of War Games the focus will be Biological warfare.

Biological weapons (often termed “bio-weapons”,) are living organisms or replicating entities (viruses, which are not universally considered “alive”) that reproduce or replicate within their host victims. Entomological (insect) warfare is also considered a type of biological weapon.

Biological weapons may be employed in various ways to gain a strategic or tactical advantage over the enemy, either by threats or by actual deployments.

Like some chemical weapons, biological weapons may also be useful as area denial weapons.

These agents may be lethal or non-lethal, and may be targeted against a single individual, a group of people, or even an entire population.

They may be developed, acquired, stockpiled or deployed by nation states or by Terrorist groups.

In the latter case, or if a nation-state uses it clandestinely, it may also be considered bioterrorism.

The use of biological weapons is prohibited under customary international humanitarian law, as well as a variety of international treaties.

Despite their prohibited status, a worrying number of incidents have occurred in the last few years where SPECON operatives have been instructed to stop potential terrorist threats involving these weapons.

Biological weapons allow for the potential to create a level of destruction and loss of life far in excess of nuclear, chemical or conventional weapons.

Biological weapons are difficult to detect, economical and easy to use, making them appeal to terrorists.

The cost of a biological weapon is estimated to be about 0.05 percent the cost of a conventional weapon in order to produce similar numbers of mass casualties per kilometer square.

A major factor about biological warfare that attracts terrorists is that they can easily escape, before the government agencies or secret agencies have even started their investigation.

SPECON train its Operators in tactics designed to counter this threat.

Due to the short (if any) warning time of such attacks, Operators must be skilled in adaptability and rapid response in the field.
