The Story
Protekorp International
Producer of microchips, fabric, food, clothing lines, consumer goods, vehicles, pharmaceuticals, weapons and everything in-between.
During and following the 2011 – 2012 war known as the Shadow Conflict, Protekorp expanded its wide ranging contracts with the U.S. Military to develop weapons, equipment and vehicles for the new generation of present day armed conflicts.
Protekorp has an ever growing number of secret research facilities and underground bunker laboratories known as the “black sites”, exclusively used for Top Secret and often illegal R&D.
These secret research facilities were created help develop various weapons for SPECON, it is rumoured that some of this research also finds its way on to the black market.
One of these sites was located in Uganda (Black site DV-426).
The underground research station was located 15 miles from Ikatawa village. Its main purpose was to study certain “jungle anomalies” reported during the conflict in 2012.
In 2012, Ugatu the former ruler and Dictator of Uganda was over thrown in a large scale conflict, civilian gorilla fighters with aid from the U.N. and SPECON were able to destabilise his power base.
Ugatu had taken control of Uganda for 18 months prior to his downfall, after uniting several warlords and there armies together, and staging a take over from the previous government.
The research materials stored at Black site DV-426 were abandoned along with the laboratory when the staff there were forced to evacuate overnight.
The site was sealed and should of remained undetected.
When the boarders to Uganda closed after the new Government took power, and a Chinese military presence moved in to supplement Uganda’s depleted army.
Since the fall of the former Warlord Ugatu, Uganda has made a pact with China.
In exchange for exclusive gold and mineral mining rights within the Country, they have agreed to become the Uganda’s military ally and provide forces to replace its devastated military that was almost entirely wiped out during the uprising.
Uganda was, and still is, under a Chinese enforced restricted quarantine to most countries in the world.
Recently Chinese Military forces (who are now allies of the Ugandans) uncovered the location of an underground structure.
Unfortunately the team who were tasked with investigating to the remote jungle region and trying to gain access to the structure were never heard from again, contact was lost shortly after they arrived at the coordinates, and they are now presumed dead.
The region is still involved in heavy rebel activity, the war rages on as the last remnants of the Tyrants forces are slowly rounded up by the Chinese-Uganda coalition of peacekeeping forces.
Violence and guerrilla attacks are taking place daily against the Chinese military personnel from the former warlord’s troops.
Even with Ugatu gone, his former commanders have split the force into several rival Rebel Gangs.
These gangs have started to fight each other as well as the Chinese military, and now the entire region is a warzone.
With the crisis escalating daily, protecting innocent civilians (and valuable mine sites) in the area is the priority, and as such investigating the rumours of an underground facility or the missing team (who are presumed to have been killed by rebels) have largely been ignored…. Until now.
In the last week a power spike has been detected from the area where the team went missing.
And now whatever is buried out there has started producing a repeating and un-decipherable radio signal.
Even with the dangers associated with that region, the Chinese military has determined this warrants further investigation.
Unfortunately because of the nature of the dense jungle in the area, and the fact the rebels are using portable military grade anti-aircraft weapons, the only way to reach the site is via barely assessable dirt roads through rebel controlled territory.
Ikatawa village is now under the rebels control, using the civilians captured as protection and making airstrikes impossible.
Using off road vehicles, heavily armed, the party set out to try and reach the origin of the signal.
what awaits them in the jungle?… find out next game: Hunting the Signal
